Reiki is “Universal Life energy” directed by one individual to another through Therapeutic touch. Reiki is given by placing hands on or 1 to 2 inches above parts of the body that correspond to the chakras, meridians and organs. A full reiki treatment can take between 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

Reiki Is a gentle, non-intrusive touch therapy which brings deep relaxation & balance to the recipient and giver.
Reiki restores natural energy balance in the body and evokes a sense of peace and well-being
Reiki compliments the healing properties of medicine, naturopathy, massage and other therapies.
Reiki is most effective when you become a willing participant in your own healing process.
Reiki can pass through clothing, bandages, casts etc.

The treatment:
Treatments begin by first discussing what your expectations are with your Reiki practitioner and filling out the appropriate forms. After removing shoes and any restrictive jewelry or belts, You will lie down fully clothed on a massage table face up. Your Reiki practitioner will lay hands on your solar plexus to connect with your energy and then ask you to repeat a prayer of protection and intent. Your practitioner may either begin with a sweep of their hands about 2 inches above your body from head to toe to feel for any energetic disturbances or areas that may need extra time or treatment. Typically the practitioner will start at your head and place her hands gently on, or just above, you at each of the 7 main Chakras, or energy centers on your body, as well as the hands and feet. While this process is standard, practitioners are often guided to move to different areas of the body via intuition. More time might be spent in different areas or working in your auric field. Your treatment will close with a sweeping of the limbs and a closing prayer which may or may not be silent. After the treatment, the practitioner will get you a glass of water or some tea and give you a moment to come back to consciousness. At that time we can discuss any thoughts or events that came up during your treatment.

What you will feel:
Different people feel different things during a Reiki treatment such as:

Nothing at all
Heat or Cold coming off of the practitioners hands or throughout their body
Tingling or prickly sensations.
Involuntary muscle twitches
extra saliva production
hear sounds
have vivid images pop up in their minds
feel the overwhelming desire to cry

While you may feel all of these things or none of them, know that Reiki can absolutely do no harm. Many times during treatment energy blockages are being released and are causing these things to occur and come up. Please DO NOT TRY AND HOLD BACK OR FIGHT ANYTHING THAT COMES UP.

If at any time during your treatment something unusual comes up, or you have the desire to discuss an emotion or feeling you have, or you are simply too hot or too cold, please mention it immediately. As Reiki practitioners we have seen and heard many things and can be trusted to keep your experiences to ourselves. What happens while you are on the Reiki table is only between us unless you choose to share your experience with others.

Reiki is the downloading of divine life force energy, or the energy of pure love, to relax you, and provide you the space and path to heal yourself. Please understand that your reiki practitioner is not responsible to you for the outcome of your reiki treatment. Most importantly keep in mind that Reiki is a healing energy from the Universal Life Source and therefore CAN DO NO HARM.
